Prevent PollutionWhen fertilizing use caution and follow these rules to avoid harming the environment:
  • Sweep up any spilled fertilizer. Rinsing fertilizer off with a hose could send it down the storm drain.
  • Don't spread fertilizer onto surfaces like driveways, streets or sidewalks. Fertilizers spread on hard surfaces can easily wash into storm drains and nearby water bodies.
  • Keep fertilizer away from lakes and rivers. Do not fertilize next to water bodies. Maintain a minimum of a 10 to 30 foot buffer between areas fertilized and the water body.
